How Beautiful Are Your Feet?
Are your feet bringing acts of service  to those who need it and the Good News?

A BACPage Message - August 14, 2002

Today as I am all days, I am blessed with devotions that teach me of God, His love and His Word. Today I read the devotion from ‘Our Daily Bread’, titled ‘We are Family’.

http://www.gospelcom.net/rbc/odb/odb-08-14-02.shtml A verse from today’s scripture reading was Ephesians 4:3 - Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. – The teaching focused on how we are a family and as I was reading it God once again laid on my heart how all of us are a family and how I am a blessed to have you not only as family but friends. We may have different pasts, are futures may someday see us go separate ways (until we are reunited in His Kingdom – Praise God), but despite all that we are one big family. We are God’s family. What that to me means, is truly being a brother to all of you. I hope I do this by encouraging and building each other up in knowing and pursuing God’s plan that He promises us in Jeremiah. 29:11. It’s a lot more then just carrying on friendly conversations in the atrium. It’s a sister in asking others in to help a brother in the painting of his new town home (as some of you will this weekend), it’s helping a sister with a need and the motives in helping her are pure and honoring to God. It’s praying for a brother or sister and not just saying you will pray, but actually saying and lifting that brother and sister up in prayer. It is a blessing to see many in my immediate circle of brothers and sisters in Christ to do these things. But the family lines do not end in of our circle of friends, the confines of Willow Creek or other places of worship. It’s God’s desire to go into all nations.

In Matthew 9:37-38 we are told  - Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." – Let us not stop the acts of being a family only to our circle of friends but extend ourselves to our brothers and sisters in communities that are under resourced, extend our love to brothers and sisters who are of a different race or speak of a different tongue. It’s great to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with unsaved friends and co-workers, but there are many who need the gift of God’s grace , but nobody is sharing it with them.

God commands us to be obedient to His Word and in His Word we find Romans 12:1 – Therefore, I urge brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship.

God’s command does not end with only brothers and sister in the family but the lost too! Romans 10:13-15  - 13for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." 14How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

How beautiful are your feet looking? Brothers and sisters I urge you to ask God to prompt you in how you can continue to be or start being a brother or sister in Christ in acts of service, encouragement and prayer to your brothers and sisters in your circle of friends that God has blessed us with, but also how we can do the same to our brothers and sisters beyond our personal friendships and walls of worship. How can we bring the “Good News” to those who haven’t heard it

As the ‘Our Daily Bread’ devotion also states there will be a day when all of God’s family will assembles in heaven. There will be believers out of every tribe and language and people and nation. (Revelations 5:9).  That moment will be a great and wonderful gathering, but we need not wait until that time to unite.

There are great opportunities for us to unite visit the links below for the opportunity to discover short-term mission possibilities or how you can help in under resourced countries.

Youth For Christ - YFC are one of Britain's most dynamic Christian organizations. We help tackle the big issues facing young people today. We’re going out on the streets, into schools and communities and have changed the lives of millions throughout the UK. In 1997 we celebrated our Jubilee - that's 50 years of taking good news to young people.

Campus Crusade for Christ has over 110,000 staff and trained volunteers serving in over 150 countries around the world. This is a glimpse into what is going on around the world to reach people for Christ and has links to many other sites

SIM (Serving in Mission) is a Christian mission partnering churches worldwide to evangelize, minister to human need, disciple and equip churches for Christ's Great Commission

Another area that needs hearts of compassion in serving is very likely very near your home. There are many, if not all, inner-city areas in the need of your services. There are food pantries that need contributions, shelters that have many needs that go unnoticed.  Not just tangible items that are needed but there is also a need for friendships. We have elderly who feel forgotten in nursing homes across the country. There are homes for children who have been abandoned, abused or whose home life is unsafe or the basic sheltering needs are not being met. Contact your local church for opportunities to serve in your community. Don’t take it for granted that just because you heard the ‘Good News’ that the elderly in those nursing homes have heard it. Don’t take it for granted when the hungry are going to hear the ‘Good News’ in all the food pantries. Don’t take it for granted someone else will bring the ‘Good News’ to those who need to hear it.

The needs are endless and far out weigh the workers, but that is not a reason to think that it is hopeless and your contribution won’t make a difference. Jesus Christ is the hope of the world but unless we as Christians answer the call and commit to doing what we as Christians are commissioned to do we are diminishing that hope and we won’t make a difference. So get on your knees in prayer and say “I’m yours God how do you want to use me today.” Then get up on them feet and respond to the answered prayer

Be pleasing to God and turn you feet into beautiful feet!
